Chapel and Advent – Week 4 – Days 1 and 2 – “LOVE” – Story Time- Narnia – CS Lewis – “What Happened About the Statues”
Today for our Advent lesson we started our studies for Week 4 – all focused on Love.
John 3:16-17 – For God loved the world in this way; He gave His one and only son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
Our passage for our lesson is Matthew 1:16-25. I encourage you all to read this as a family. This passage points us to Joseph. Joseph had an ordinary life, right up until an angel appeared to him in a dream. As any man would do, he pondered on how to not carry out the marriage because Mary was going to have a baby, but the angel told him not to be afraid and that the Holy Spirit, the power of God Himself, had put that baby in their lives and that he should marry Mary as planned. So he was obedient and he did as he was told and as he planned. David had heard all his life of this baby that would come, and now here he is, the father of this baby that is coming. The Messiah!! The angel instructed them to name the baby Jesus. The baby would be called Immanuel – God with us. Jesus came to the earth through a family of ordinary people. Just like you and me!!
In our Story Time in Narnia, we saw a couple of Biblical Parallels:
Ezekiel 37:5 – God speaks to those in the Valley of the Slain and describes that “I will make breath come over and you will come to life.”John 20:22 Jesus also spoke to the disciple about breathing life into them.
Aslan, now that he is alive again, is going around making all things right. Bible parallel, Isaiah 61:1-2
