Hey y’all! If you missed last night, here is some info about the session we started at 628 on Sunday evening, 1/17.21. Jump in and enjoy and come join us next week!!
Soul Searching – Week 1
Here are the topics we discussed this past Sunday night:
- In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth! – Genesis 1:1
- God created the land, animals, sun, moon, so many wonderful things in our creation – after all of that cool stuff was formed, he was not finished. His last piece of creation had something extra special. He created man, with a soul.
- Genesis 1:26–27 (NIV) Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and overall the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
- God made you and me in His image! That is a big deal!!! Genesis 2:7 tells us that God blew breath into the man and the man came alive – giving man a living soul!!!
- Think about this…..Instagram or Snapchat…. original okay but filters!!! Wow! Added bonuses. I guess that is if you use social medial!! Here is the point – when God made people, he added something extra, he added a living soul!! Y’all, that is something to get excited about!!!
- What is a soul? A great way to think about it is this: “your soul is a part of you that will live forever”.
- Our souls need rest. God did not create us to be active constantly. We need to rest.
- We need to connect with God in His Creation and in prayer. Take time to go outside and spend some time with God in His creation. Find a quiet place you can talk to Him.
- Your soul will only find rest in Him. God made us to be with Him and only with Him can we find the rest we need for our souls.
- When we try to find rest in “things” of this world and not with God, we end up in bad situations. Only God can provide what we need.
I would love to hear your thoughts. Where do you get rest for your soul??
