Aaron Dies, Snakes In The Camp, Trust, God Can Heal

Chapel Time, 2/26/21

 

Our story today comes from the book of Numbers, Chapter 20.  

Moses is planning the next trip.  Their 40 years of wandering are almost up when God tells Moses that Aaron is going to die.  Moses, Aaron, Eleazar go up the mountain, Moses puts the Chief Priest’s robes on Eleazar, and Aaron went to sleep in Moses’ arms.  They return to camp to find that the people are complaining again.  Blaming Moses for bringing them out of Egypt.  God sent serpents to camp to show the people how He had been protecting them. The people come to Moses to tell them that they had sinned against God by complaining and ask Moses to pray to God to take away the serpents.  

God told Moses to make a brass serpent and put it on a pole.  When the people looked at it they would be healed.  Not by the snake, but by trusting God.  

Many people put their trust in God and were healed.  Lesson learned: Trust God and stop grumbling!!! Oh how that is so true for us, still today.  Just Trust Him.  Stop Grumbling and Trust!!!

Jesus told Nicodemus many years later, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness so the Son of man must be lifted up.”

Put your trust in Jesus and turn away from sin.  Trust Him today as your Savior and have eternal life.  

 

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
