Advent – Week 1 – Day 4 – HOPE
“Waiting for Jesus”
Reference scriptures: Genesis 17:15-22
Isaac. The promise that God fulfilled. The covenant, the promise that God made that Sarah and Abraham would have many children one day. It all started with Isaac. I mean, do you blame them for doubting a little? They waited so long, in fact, Sarah was 90 and Abraham was 100 when Isaac was born. Talk about waiting!! God chose to pass His promise through Isaac.
Isaac was not the only miraculous baby born in the lineage. There was Jesus!!! He was also a miracle baby, the best gift ever because He is the Son of God, sent to us as a free gift!!!! God’s people waited so long for Jesus to come, and God kept His promise. We can now wait, without doubt, as we await the return of Jesus. We do not have to doubt, because we already know that God keeps His promises!!
Discussion questions:
Have you ever made a promise you could not keep? Discuss how it happened and how you felt about it.
Does this help you see just how mighty our God really is??
How did God show us He is a promise keeper in the story of Isaac?
Does this encourage you to trust God?
Merry Christmas!
