ADVENT – WEEK 3, DAY 3 – “JOY PROMISED”
Merry Christmas! I hope you all are having a great week. I have no video today, as I am in Wilmington with Mr. Jimmy aka “PePaw” for his surgery. So I will just share some thoughts with you today.
Scripture: Isaiah 61:1-3
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
3 to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Is 61:1–3.
So let’s talk about this scripture for a bit……. what is a Jubilee? Well, in Bible times it was a year-long party that God called to have every 50 years. It lasted a year! People did not have to pay back the money they owed, and for a whole year, they did not have to work! They just celebrated the blessing God had given to them. Wow! Pretty cool party, right?
This also points us to Jesus. The Joy that Jesus would bring. The debt of sin would be forgiven – because of Jesus.
People will be free from the things that bind them – like shame and suffering – because of Jesus.
One day, Jesus will return and the whole earth will be covered with Joy only He can bring. No sin. So suffering. Only renewal and rejoicing. We will be praising God in His presence. Now that sounds like a forever party to me!! I look forward to that day coming!
Let’s rejoice today at what God is doing all around us and let’s join Him! Let’s go and reach out, build up, and share The Good News of Jesus today!
Who can you reach out to today?
Who can you encourage today? How can you encourage them?
How can you encourage and build them up?
Come with me, and let’s reach the next generation with The best news ever! Jesus!
Until tomorrow – love you all!!!!
