Daily Chatting with Your Kiddos – July 13th, 2022
What are you talking to your kids about today? What are they excited about? What are they concerned about?
I have talked to several parents over the last few days, and wow, our kiddos sure do have a lot to process!!! Right?!?!?!?
I am continually blown away by what parents are telling me their sons are getting in texts from their girlfriends, or how their daughters are being controlled by this little boy that wants to “own” her……… Y’all. We have got to help these kids understand that God is all they need to be focused on. They should be enjoying the life that God has given them and they should be directing their thoughts on things from above!!! We have been talking about how to love this week – how does Jesus love?!?!?!? talk about His love and how it relates to relationships in their lives. Are their relationships like Jesus would have?
Here is my two cents worth for today…….
You have heard me say many times, listen to them. Take time and truly listen to them. No phone in hand, no one pulling at you, just you directly looking at them and listening to them. They need you. They need you to listen and they need you to ask questions. Loving questions to figure out how to best help them. There is a lot going on around them. More than our culture has really ever seen before – not because there is more sin – but because sinful things are made “right” by our culture today. It is different from when we were teens because even though we had the same kinds of things to deal with, things were not as openly accepted back then. I mean, really, just 10 short years ago things were wayyyyy different.
So listen to them. Hear them and try and direct them to what scripture says about whatever they are celebrating or carrying as a burden. Help them. You are their safe people. They trust you. Help them. Make time. Don’t let these precious years slip away from you.
Please let me know if I can be of any help with any of the resources that I have access to; I will be right there.
You got this Mom and Dad!!! God trusted you with them…. He will carry you through this parenting season. Lean into Him when you feel like you have nothing else to give. He is right there ready to help.
Thank you for loving your kids the way you do. Keep Him first. It is the best we can do for them.
Hugs to you all!
KJ
