DISCIPLESHIP AT HOME – “IDOLS ARE” – A TERRIBLE EXCHANGE
Daily Scripture Reference for This Week:
Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory because of your faithful love, because of your truth. Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven and does whatever he pleases (Ps. 115:1-3).

In our culture, it is so easy to make idols of the things around us. Spend some time this week talking with your kids about idolatry. Help them to see just how quickly and easily we make “things” more important than God. Often it happens without us even realizing it, which is why we need to have our Armor of God on daily, to defend the evil one who so slyly turns our eyes from God and tempts us into making idols of things, the very things that God created. Good things in our lives can easily take priority over God. Be on guard and keep God in 1st place!! Enjoy some time chatting with your kids this week. Time with our kids goes by so quickly, spend time talking with them about things that make an eternal impact.
Do not have other gods besides me. Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. Do not bow in worship to them, and do not serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commands (Ex. 20:3-6).
