Hey, y’all! Happy April showers today! May flowers are coming!
I was doing some reading this morning about God’s promises. I came across the verse of Isaiah 44:3-4.
For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring. They will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourses. – Isaiah 44:3-4
I pray today that you are being watered by the Living Water that makes these promises. We will dry up and never produce fruit if we are not “watering” ourselves with God and His Word. As wives, husbands, parents, leaders, whatever season you are in right now, we must remain watered or we will become dry and not able to reach others. We cannot disciple if we are not taking care of our own spiritual life and this in turn means we cannot fulfill what Jesus has left us here to do. Our spiritual growth is so very important. I know, no matter who you are, there are people who are counting on you. There are people all around you that need you to be well watered and standing tall for Jesus, ready to share about Him in the opportunities that arise. So the question is, do you thirst for Him? He will put water on those who thirst, Scripture says so. Do you thirst for Him??? Are you making Him a priority? Are you spending time with Him? Intentional time with Him? The students had a challenge; to come up with two ways they could make time for reading God’s Word. The most popular answer was to schedule time to be with Him and follow through. It is true for us all. We need our daily routine to include intentional time with God. Thirsty?
Be Thirsty For God
Our spouse needs us to be thirsty for God. They need to see us soaking up God daily. When God is first, our marriages will be so much better and stronger and will withstand whatever giants come our way. Our vow to our spouse was also one to God. It was not a contract, but a covenant. A promise. A promise that what God brings together, no man can tear apart. So…… do not let the things of this world, man or man-made things, tear away at your marriage. Be faithful and keep your promise both to God and to your spouse. Does your marriage represent a strong-rooted tree that is growing and watered well and strong? Willing to bend but not break? Strongly rooted to withstand any storms? Read the scripture reference again and picture your marriage as a tree alongside the waters. Every marriage takes work. Every marriage faces storms. Every marriage can survive if rooted in God. Marriages like the tree alongside the waters remain strong and never stops growing. Thirsty for Him? We all should be!
Read the Scripture again. Yes, again. Now underline or highlight the part about how He will send His Spirit on your descendants. He will send His Blessing on your offspring. Isn’t that promise so comforting and assuring as parents? You know, we are to show the water to our kiddos. We are the ones that God has trusted to teach them of The Living Water. If we are not showing them and teaching them that God is good and required for the life He intended for us, they may wilt as a tree without water. However, if we are keeping them fed with His Word and watered, they will continue to grow and grow, “springing up among the grass like willows”. Springing up, I love that!! Might they step away on their journey? Sure, it is possible. But God…… God has them and if they know Him as their foundation, chances are really good that they will come back to Him, even if they do wander away from “The Water”.
Build The Foundation
So whether your babies are small, older, grown, whatever season, let them be encouraged by your walk with Jesus. Give them the foundation they need for a life rooted in God’s love and then enjoy the celebrations and the trials, knowing that God is at work in their lives and pray they will see it too. Pray for those babies. Pray for them and their future and that they will stay true to what they have been taught about our Heavenly Father. Pray for the choices they will make in friends and their future spouse. Pray without ceasing.
I love you all, my sisters and brothers in Christ, and I pray you are staying home and staying well. God is good, all the time, and He will win this battle that we are going through now too. Already has. Wait. Trust. Obey.
