Well, today marks the end of something and the beginning of something. Think about it. Ending and beginning. To everything that begins, there is an end, except in Heaven, of course.
For me and Steven Jones, May was a special day for us and our baby girl. May 1st she submitted her final paperwork for her Junior year of High School. A special end to a year in which she has made us proud (again) and has worked so very hard. We also celebrated her 17th birthday yesterday and we are so incredibly blessed by God with this sweet girl.
Know what else it means? The beginning of the end. The beginning of her senior year of High School. The Beginning of her end of High School. What!? How on earth did we get here so quickly?!
I know that God has a special plan for her, a plan that began almost 17 years ago for us. You see, God sent us this little bundle of joy that has made us joyful parents. Then we blinked and she is almost done with High School.
I have to admit, the thoughts of what the next year, the year after the senior year, might be a little breathtaking for a parent. Some of you have already experienced the new beginning of life with a student in college. What on earth will we do?!?!? The dogs and me and Steven and the cat will be a wreck!! Haha! Laugh, yes I know it is funny, but it will be soooo different for us around here. Big changes coming!!!
At the same time, it is very exciting. A senior. A young lady who loves Jesus and has a heart for people and has such an opportunity ahead. God is so good!!! I am excited to see what He has planned for her life.
Something to think about
I encourage you, as you imagine what wearing my shoes right now might feel like; Did you snuggle enough? Did you read together enough? Did you spend enough time in God’s Word together? Now is the time to ask those questions. Now is the time to make the best of every moment. Every. Single. Moment.
Snuggle those babies tonight. Kiss them on the forehead and tell them how much you love them and how you believe in them. Tell them that no matter what tomorrow holds, they have a Father who loves them and He has a special story already written for them. Rejoice in the fact that “He knows the plans He has for us. Plans to prosper and not for harm.” Assure them that you are their biggest fan on earth!!!
I wrote a post a while back about hills, ups and downs, and the roller coaster of life. This season is a reminder of that. I am so thankful that I don’t know what’s next but I have a Savior that does!! His Word tells us not to worry about tomorrow, so I choose to trust Him and what lies ahead and I pray for His Will to be done. One of the most difficult prayers, I believe, as a parent, because we have no idea what it might be, but it is yet the one that leads to peace in Him if we can just let go and trust Him.
I love you all. Pray for us as we enter the life of a senior. I will be praying for all of you parents as well.
Trusting Him.
