King Solomon Disobeys God – “The Magician’s Nephew” Chapter 11
Chapel Time with Miss Kim – October 18, 2021
Today our Bible lesson came from 1 Kings 11:1-12. We have been talking about how King Solomon was so very wise, as God had given him wisdom and many riches. Then a very sad thing happened. Solomon turned away from God. The Lord told Solomon that because he had been disobedient about who to marry and how to live, God was taking the Kingdom away, however, God would take it from his son, not from Solomon, because God made a promise to David and God always keeps His promises. Solomon ruled Israel for 40 years. Then his son Rehoboam became the King of Israel.
Not doing what we know is right is so very dangerous!!
Matthew 7:26 says, “But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.”
Wait, Trust, Obey
Another great verse about wisdom is:
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2
My advice from this lesson; be wise, be obedient, be humble, and always seek God for wisdom, then do what He says!!!
Our prayer focus today is: Our Friends
Ecclesiastes 4:12 says “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

So, did you see Jesus connections in this Chapter of Narnia – Digory and his uncle are both in trouble? here are some tips for you.
~Aslan questions Digory about how the witch got to Narnia. At first Digory tries to blame others until he confesses it was him. In Genesis 3:8-13, God questions Adam and Eve about eating the forbidden fruit, and of course they blame others initially. In both cases, they were forced to tell the truth.
~The wicked queen comes from another world, Satan was originally in heaven and got kicked out and then made his appearance in Eden. With Aslan, the witch had been around before Narnia was created – with God, Satan had been around before God created Eden. God made it very clear He would have the final say and defeat Satan – Genesis 3:15, John 1:14, 1 John 3:8.
~Aslan says Adam’s race will help heal it – God says in Genesis 3:15 God promised He would one day crush the serpent and a descendent of Adam would accomplish the defeat.
~The Cabby asked that his wife be able to live with him in Narnia forever, so Aslan brings her. Adam needed a helper so God brought him Eve.
**challenge from “Magician’s nephew”
Caddy feels like he knows Aslan already, from somewhere else. Does he possibly know Aslan from another name in our world? Do you know what that name is?
Tips: Read Philippians 2:9-11Who does Aslan represent in our world?
