Hello Student Leaders!!
The students and I started a new series at 628 last night called “Soul Searching”. I invite you to enjoy these leaders devotions that are a part of the series, to help you all grow spiritually as well. Enjoy!!
week 1 devotional:
In this series, we are going to be examining the one thing God created in us that separates us from the rest of creation. Let’s spend some time during this series to evaluate the state of our own souls. Healthy leadership requires a healthy soul. Each week, you will receive a devotional that will focus on the soul.
3 John 2
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
“This verse implies that health and wellness don’t move from the outside in, but from the inside out … External things won’t bring us the satisfaction we long for.” – Judah Smith in How’s Your Soul
We know this to be true, have probably said this, and even offered it as advice to students … but how often do we fail to put it into practice in our own lives?
Spend a minute reflecting on your life over the past six months. What are some examples of you striving for external success seeking internal happiness? Did you achieve what you set out for? If so, was the happiness you hoped for present?
Genesis 2:7
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being (a living soul).
Man became alive when God breathed into him. God’s breath is an essential characteristic to the human soul. Our souls came from, depend on, and long for God.
Borrowed Breath is what our souls live on.
Have you ever thought about this concept: living on borrowed breath? If we’re living off of borrowed breath, then how often are you inhaling/exhaling?
Spend some time in God’s Creation this week and connect with Him there. I assure you it will be refreshing as well as a blessing.
