Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving to you all my friends! We have so very much to be thankful for today, no matter what part of the journey we are currently living in right now.
This pelican reminded me of so many things to be thankful for today and every day. Steven took this picture on a fishing trip not too long ago and I just loved it. This beautiful picture of some of God’s creations reminded me of how awesome of a God we have. The Pelican; oh how I wonder what his little mind was thinking as he sat upon this pole. Was it curious or confident? Was it hungry or satisfied? Was it searching or did it know exactly where it was and what it needed to know?
God is such a beautiful creator and artist!
Just this morning I took the dogs out and right on the edge of our woods in the backyard were two whitetail deer! I didn’t see them at first, but one scrambled off and got my attention and the other just hung around watching us. They were so big and their tails stood so high and were so very white! White as snow! It was so amazing! I thank God for allowing me to be that close to a part of His creation this morning that I do not typically see that close. It was quite breathtaking.
So clearly today, I am thankful for God and His Creation. I am also thankful for my family (both humans and fur babies and or Gecko) that He has blessed me to have. I have so many things that I could list – how about you? I am certain, just like myself, you have recently been mindful of being thankful, as is the season. But are you really thankful? Do you tell God how thankful you are? The thought has been on my mind a lot lately of what it would look like if tomorrow I woke and only had what I thanked God for today. What would that look like for you? Are we truly thankful? What do we take for granted? What would we miss the most and wish we could have back? It is certainly something to think seriously about. It should certainly change the look of our gratitude list and how we pray to God!!
I pray this morning that as families and friends gather together today, that we are intentional to celebrate our very existence in our country and the freedoms we have, and that we are sincerely thankful. Remember those that fight for that freedom that are away from their families. Remember those who are all over this globe sharing The Good News who also celebrate away from families. Sacrifices are being made for our good and for His Glory! Let us make sure we are thankful for those today and remember them in our prayers.
I also pray that as you gather that you find peace. Family time can get less than comfortable sometimes. Choose Joy. Do not let Satan come and still anything from your time together. He will try. Do not let him. Enjoy one another. Love one another as God commands us to do. Maybe today is the day to heal some relationships. Maybe today is the first time meeting some new little blessings in the family. Maybe today is a time of adjusting to family gatherings with a seat that is now empty. Whatever the case may be, choose Joy. Choose to be Thankful, because of God. Because God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, the very one and only Jesus so that we could have eternal life in Heaven with Him one day. No matter what your Thanksgiving Day might hold, the Hope that we can have of Heaven is more than enough reason to choose Joy and Thanksgiving today. One day, we will all sit at The Table with God in Heaven, never hungry again, full of joy and happiness because we will be in His very presence. Picture that today as you sit among family and rejoice for how wonderful our eternal life will be, for those who believe in Him that is. Perhaps today you share Jesus with someone who does not have a relationship with Him and have them join your table. A little glimpse of Heaven perhaps.
I wish you the best wherever you are. Enjoy today like it is the last because it might be. Enjoy every day like it is your last. Tell someone about Jesus today and make sure and smile at people. Be the little bit of sunshine in someone’s life that might make a difference, even an eternal difference possibly. Let others see God’s love pouring from you and be thankful.
Until later, gobble gobble. Eat up and go for a walk. It is going to be a beautiful day in God’s Creation. Happy Thanks Giving!
