I am certain you have all asked this question over and over the last few days, just like myself. We are in a time that no one has ever seen. Our senior adults are as blown away as the rest of us as they have never seen anything like this either. For our kids who were born around or after the time of 9-11, this is the closest thing they have to relate to a worldwide impacting crisis.
Do Not Fear
God’s Word mentions that we should not be fearful somewhere around 365 times – once for each day – including today, and tomorrow, and the next day, no matter what comes your way. I truly believe that God will use this time as a time to have us Be Still and know He is God. A time to know Him and to make Him known. A time to Grow. I was in a meeting the other day and we were chatting about The Pslams. He makes me lie down in green pastures – He makes me rest. He makes me be still. Hmmm, in times such as these? Think about it……..
Be still and know, be still and grow. How can you grow during this time? Grow with Family, Grow with God, Grow in your Neighborhood (washing hands and being careful of course). Maybe you can pick up groceries for a neighbor that is 60+ that does not need to be in crowds. Be creative. Come up with ways to show others God’s love during this time, all while being still in Him. Maybe your God time needs work or your prayer time. This is a great time to work on those times as well.
Be Still.
Know Him and make Him Known.
Trust Him to provide.
What is Going On?
I was watching Good Morning America on Friday and I was blown away at the panic of Moms talking about having their kids at home with them for weeks to come. I know that a change in schedule causes issues, but these are our kids. God-given kids! We teach them daily!!! When did we get to be a culture that is so busy and focused on ourselves that we panic about having our kids at home?!? We are all guilty of being too busy, every single one of us. So now, we all get to step out of the normal race we run and rest and refocus.
Pastor Kevin mentioned in his sermon this morning about how this generation (of young people) is watching to see how we respond to this situation with Coronavirus. We teach our children every single day without even trying. They see how we live and how we respond to situations. Many say that they cannot teach their children. What? Really? Come on y’all, we are teachers daily to all around us, especially our children. A wise friend of mine asked me once “Who taught your kid to eat?” and “Who taught our kid to go potty?” Y’all, we teach them daily!!!! Our children are given to us and trusted to us by God, so please use this time to pour into your children. Reconnect. GROW. We have become a culture so busy that we do not even know how to be home and teach our kids!!!! Please, please, please use this as a time to reconnect with your family and most importantly get refocused back on God. Please make this a time of revival for your walk with God and for your family.
Priorities
What do our kids see as a priority in our life? We teach them by how we live and what is a priority in our lives. We love what we make a priority. We are teaching our kids what is most important to us by how we prioritize. Is it work? Is it your phone? Is it friends? Is it God? Is it your husband? Is it your children? This may be a time for you to get your priorities in order so that your kids can learn from what is important to you. God, Spouse, children…….
Know that I am here to help with resources if you need them. I know that these times are causing all kinds of craziness. I get that it can be overwhelming to think of being home with the kids for so long, but God will provide and there is a village around you that is willing to help with resources and ideas to keep those kiddos learning and growing. Please do not hesitate to reach out for help.
Trust Him. Call on Him. Seek Him. Grow to Him and through Him. He still wins. Victory in Jesus!!
