Vocabulary:
1 – Advent – coming or arrival
2 – Hope – believing that there are better things ahead
3 – Candle – wax stick with wick that burns fire for light – brings light to the darkness
4 – Wreath – circle of greenery or plants – decorative – Advent Wreath – a tradition for Christmas Celebration
5 – tradition – a practice that is done yearly to celebrate a certain event – Advent is a tradition – to light the Advent Wreath Candles –
Sample Sentence: It is a tradition for my family to light Advent Candles to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
6 – disappoint – to fail to do what is expected

8 – poured – to pour out – to pass liquid to another place or object
I poured out the extra water.
9 – Holy Spirit – The Spirit of God. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Three persons in one. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit that lives in us when we choose to follow Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the helper – The Holy Spirit helps us to know what is right and what is sin.
10 – Christmas – The holiday that we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
11 – Jesus – The Son of God. God sent Jesus to earth to teach us how to live. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins so that we can have eternal life with God in Heaven. Jesus was born at Christmas. We give gifts at Christmas – Jesus was the best gift ever. Jesus is our gift from God. A free gift for us if we choose to accept.
12 – Present – 1 – a gift – 2 – to be present/in person with someone – to be present
13 – Sin – anything we say, do, or think that is against what God instructs us to do – disobedience to God.
14 – Promise – to say you will do something and you do it – making a commitment.
God keeps all of His promises.
